How can I figure out my ring size?

You can measure your ring size using either string or perhaps a more common item in your home, floss. Take one of these measurement tools and wrap it around the base of your finger, marking where the string or floss first overlaps with a pen. Then, line that up with a ruler and take down its length in millimeters.

How can I clean my jewelry at homme?

If your jewelry has no stones, you may simply immerse it into a silver cleaning solution, and then thoroughly wipe it off with a cloth for silver cleaning that will bring its shine and remove excess of cleaning solution. Never immerse a piece of jewellery with stone or that has oxidised details into a solution. If you are not sure how to clean the jewellery yourself please contact me or take it to your local jeweller.

Silver care and repairs

I recommend you use a polishing cloth to remove mild tarnishing marks in conjunction with silver tarnish removal products such as SILVO for heavier tarnishing. Use a small piece of cotton to apply the tarnish removal cream by rubbing the silver in small circular motions. Once the tarnish has been removed rinse the silver item in water and wash your hands thoroughly and dry them well. Do not use silver polishing products on stones.

My designs are based on the care and attention to details. Since customers may wish to tend to their jewellery themsels I conceived the following guide to silver care.

Silver (Ag) is a precious metal and similar to most metals silver will tarnish over time. Part of the natural beauty of silver is it’s tarnish this will show up as a discoloration that may eventually turn into blue/black. This will usually occur on the points of the jewellery that come in contact with the silver irritant or skin, or on parts of the jewellery that are difficult to clean. Tarnish occurs when silver comes in to contact with Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) and H2S) and Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) in the air or its immediate surroundings. The speed at which sterling silver tarnishes can be affected by it’s general surroundings and environment.

Factors include, but are not limited to: humidity, pollution, the Ph level of your skin and sweat, any chemicals you come in to contact with as well the food and water you may consume. In the production of sterling silver copper is used, copper produces its own tarnish which may contribute to the discoloration of the sterling silver.

I would recommend as general guideline to avoid coming in to contact with the following as they can tarnish your Sterling silver items.

  • Smoke
  • Solvents
  • Some paints
  • Perfumes
  • Hand creams
  • Foods with high salt count
  • Vinegar
  • Detergents that include phosphates
  • Acetone

How can I store my jewelry items?

Your jewelry has a sentimental value as well, whether you have gold, silver, or bronze items you need to store them until a fancy occasion arises. It’s important to learn all you can about precious metal storage, here are some tips:

  • Silver, bronze, gold, semi-precious and precious stones may get scratched. Therefore always put your piece of jewelry in the original package to prevent dust accumolation and don`t mix it with other jewelry after use. I recomend you not to store your jewelry items in the bathroom.
  • How to keep your jewelry items from tarnishing? They should be stored in areas that are not humid and do not experience drastic heat fluctuations, a drawer in a hutch is a great place for storing it and also keeps it handy.
  • Avoid storing your silver in newspaper or acidic paper because the ink or acid can cause corrosion and damage. You can store silver objects in flannel bags or chests lined with treated flannel cloths to help slow tarnishing.
